He tipped my chin to look in his eyes The ones I had avoided to meet He made me look deep within And then and there I knew defeat Feelings I hid from long ago A life over - it was the past But his touch is smoldering I admit Some feelings are just meant to last He spoke of his love never fading Brought back the flutters in my heart Funny how things you had not quite forgotten With a simple touch can once again start I told him the past was better forgotten I had promises that linked them away He caressed my cheek softly and my pulse quickened Oh how I wanted to love now away The girl I once was when he was my hero Was coming to life before my own eyes And I exhaled in her exuberance so refreshing Feelings from before the world made me wise I tore my eyes away from his slowly And caught the reflection of my wedding ring Thought of the growing I’d done since our parting And what I’d be risking for a memory fling I walked away smiling, the flattery boosting He stood standing, gaping in awe I guess while looking deep in his eyes There were parts of myself I never before saw Sure the emotions of young love are so exciting But true love wins in the end after all The love that takes years to build a foundation When true won’t with a temptation fall. ------------------ For sometimes when the Darkness falls, we must surrender, take what is ours, and give what we can, and always remember love is somewhere waiting... |
