-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Timepiece ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I see a face, its ringed with gold It's all that's left for me to hold I wear it to remind me his memories still find me More a 'do'er than a 'thinker' clocks and watches were his tinker pleasure came from simple things to free a cog, adjust a spring He always knew how precious time can be His hair once red, turned grey, then white unsteady hands and failing sight where once was strong and bold came withered, weak and old He asked for nothing, that's all he had his final years too brief, too sad I knew so little of his life and less about my mom, his wife It taught me just how precious time can be I wear his watch, don't miss a day and when the hours slip away I look and see the faces that time and age replaces I promise that I'll find the time to give to those who's life meets mine the love that I missed out upon when I became an orphan son and tell them all how precious time can be ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [This message has been edited by graham (edited 08-05-99).] |

So delicately beautiful. What a fine tribute. ------------------ "Nobody has measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold" ~Zelda Fitzgerald |

I too have a ring of gold, my dads wedding ring...from time to time I take it out...and look at all the memories it holds. Time passes much to fast when someone you love slips away, Love them, thank them, for all the joys it pays. |

Welcome to the family! It's nice to see you here. You've written a touching tribute to your father here. I look forward to reading more of your work. |

A timely reminder to us all...elegantly said! HUGS ------------------ You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. |

I could read this a hundred times, and it would still be as precious as the first. You captured the essense of time, or lack of as is sometimes the case. The writing was superb also. |

I’m sending this back to the top. Not because it is written by a Brit ( he lives on the wrong side of the country to warrant favoritism ) but because it is a good poem that may have been missed by some readers. |
