The sun shines high: the rain's gone by.
It's Dandelion Day.
From fertile spawn my plush green lawn
Is mottled yellow spray.

The neighbors' round, all cutting down
Their blades and flowers gay ~
Now green they've got, a common lot,
While mine's in vast array.

Why should I mow these lovelies low,
Defying Sunshine's ray?
To bring them down the sun might frown,
And turn blue sky to gray.

I'll let their seeds fallow new weeds
And mow another day.
Resplay they should, the neighborhood.
The Dandelions stay.

You can't fool me,
My little lass.
You sit because .
You're high on grass!

a poem in response--

LONG LIVE DANDELIONS
in someone else's yard.
I, too want to cut them down,
but mowing's just too hard.
Perhaps I'll take some scissors
and cut them to the quick!
No, that would even take MORE time--
the grass is much too thick.
Perhaps I'll squirt a chemical
upon the lawn and then
I'll hope and pray to my dismay
that chemical will win!

my poem to Nan-

Nan's poem about the dandelions
is so much better'n mine.
I am in awe of poetry
by Nan Ness all the time.

There are no weeds in verse she writes,
no dandelion's here!
She'll mow down all the errors then
she'll post a poem so clear--
rhyme meter do meld perfectly
like jam and morning toast,
expressing Nancy's heart within--
that's how she writes her post.

So, neighbors, listen up and hear
the polished poems on hand!
This Nancy Ness is poetress!
Post more, the crowd demands!!

I love dandelions and would rather see their cheerful blooms than a well manicured lawn any day.

Dandelions are such a bright morning hello'...who wouldn't want them to stay a while....whether or not we are in the mood to mow...lol
