You said you wanted happiness,
A though that sounded great.
You said you needed peace of mind
I offered you a plate.

You said you wanted me around.
I showed you how to make it.
I gave the opportunity
How come you didn't take it?

You know the things I need to have.
My life's an open door
And, in return I'd give and give,
And then I'd give some more.

But, either I am very dumb
Or you're not very smart.
While I spent my time giving,
You were taking me apart.

You never tried to understand
What I was all about
And now, instead of giving,
I have simply given out.

Frustration makes my muscles ache
But life is for the living.
How sad you finally came to take
When I was out of giving.

You've done it again, Captured a feeling in ink (or in this case typographical production reproduced in binary format)

Balladeer,
I like it - simple and direct.

Excellent work as usual, you have captured the give and take of a onesided relationship.
Unfortunately I can relate all too well...
Keep those wonderful poems coming!

Hey M&M, Thanx for the other poem you sent me. I sent it to my gal, she liked it a lot. This poem is a great one, you truly have a gift for grabbing the human spirit and putting it down on paper. Totally awesome.

Balladeer~
Are you sure you aren't me in a parallel universe? What a gift--to allow the reader to believe that the words you write fit their own life so perfectly...saying, "That has to be written for me"! Thank you for giving just a little bit more!

Balladeer, looks like this could have been one of your first Masterpieces here at Passions, so I shall boost it to the front for a second round. Great piece of work, as always.

Thank you, Lost Dreamer, for bringing this one to the front, otherwise I might never have read it.
Balladeer, that is good, did you know?

Our Balladeer only speaks words of truth.
Too bad we cannot clone him, forsooth!
