Been beaten, kicked, and stepped Upon Been raped, cut, and lied Upon Yet still I smile and go About With strength and vigor not a Pout I don't feel sorry for Myself Don't place the blame on someone Else Take the punishment at the Time With pride and stubborness hard to Find I know my kids will be proud of Me They'll look at me and they will see A STRONG BLACK WOMAN *in no way is this to be perceived as an exalting poem. Everyone has had their pain and I just wanted to share my triumph* |
