on losing inspiration I fear my voice becoming inaudible (a scratching wordlessness that eats at my cords, at my fingertips) I fear it leaving me loose and dangling by strange branches It is the manhandling of an echo a foolish gathering of wishes that leaves me vaulted, confounded I lean towards it, ear cocked waiting hungrily for a kaleidoscope mural of syllables tethered beyond the ropes twisting into sounds catching it like rainwater the way the flowers sometimes do greedily drinking until the hurt comes until I am no longer floating, a foreigner under a quarreling sky and I am falling through |

Every poem you write takes me on a visual ride - somewhere - this one is no exception.... You need to post more - (I should talk?) ![]() |

fearing the loss of inspiration; I know it well. Although from your poem I don't think you are in immediate danger of that! I loved the rainwater imagery; truly a ride of the senses. I think that aside from the pure kind of inspiration we all know and love, is the one that we can create by reading my favourite poet, taking a walk in a park, or doing a garbage-day cleanout of my cluttered head; what I do which is very helpful is to just write/type whatever comes to mind for several pages maybe until I find myself on a theme that runs independent of my outside sterility, something I become excited about. Sometimes the loveliest lines, the best phrasing, the ultimate question comes out of this 'taking out the trash' of the poetic head. |

You say you have only been writing for a short time? Unbelievable! As usual, your talent is displayed with finesse, style, and superior craftsmanship. I applaud you! Losing inspiration? hehehe.... Not apparent in this poem! Fine work, my friend. And, what Nan said! Post more here. We need to read and study the poetry of a fine free verse writer. luv, dp |
