When I was a child I played by myself in a corner of the schoolyard all alone. I hated dolls and I hated games, animals were not friendly and birds flew away. If anyone was looking for me I hid behind a tree and cried out 'I am an orphan.' And here I am, the center of all beauty! writing these poems! Imagine! Frank O'Hara I just wanted to put this on because it's so inspirational. No matter where we've all been in our pasts, here we all are, together in a sense, in 'the center of all beauty.' |

Can't take the credit Delores - it's by Frank O'Hara. But it's one of my favourites |

It is indeed a lovely and inspiring poem, Severn - but all six of O'Hara's books are still under copyright protection. Chances are no one would object, and it's a wonderful way to introduce people to a truly influencial writer, but we do tend to be a bit cautious around here. Okay? |

I am glad you shared this...it reminded me of myself as a child, and I had never read any of Frank's work...I'll be checking into it now thanks to you...and also to your comment on my piece "...my mental excitement", I've only glanced at Emily's work, but know I like it...I've meant to get some of her works to read, just haven't done it! I use alot of dashes to help the reader read it & pause the way I'd like them to...makes it easier to feel the beat at times...your comments are very helpful....I enjoy reading your postings! ------------------ - poet FemmeFatale "The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone..."
