“Why are you looking at me?” you ask. “Is something wrong? Are you concerned?” I continue to watch you in your task. Yes, I was staring. So... what have I learned? Behind your ear I discovered a site, Where no other man could have been. The place where I kissed you last night, And where I long to kiss again. I saw for the hundredth time your hair, The way it bounces when you turn your head. It was like the first time, I swear, When we laid together in our bed. I found the man I wanted to be, As you focused on your chore. Your form beguiled him out of me, Have I learned anything more? I noticed the way your mouth turned down, As you bent to straighten what you’d done. I heard the music of your whispered sounds, As you thought of things yet to come. I caught your profile in the light, As you turned and wondered why, I would smile at your disheveled sight, With this enchantment in my eye. “Why are you looking at me?” you ask. “Is something wrong? Are you concerned?” To answer demands I bend to the task, And try to explain what it is I’ve learned. Do you know that in you I find, Everything I need, and then some more? Hope and love and peace of mind, Dreams come true, like never before. If you could only see through my eyes As I stand here watching you. I’m sure your questions would find replies To the many things I thought you knew. My silence is not because I find, Something wrong or of concern. It’s just that I can’t believe you’re mine, It’s only now I’m beginning to learn. |

How very touching! You truly are a lucky man, Long John, to be in love like this. I enjoyed reading this one. ------------------ *Elizabeth* "Dwelt a maid belov'd and cherish'd by high and low, But with autumn leaf she perish'd, long time ago..." |

Most excellent Long John! You have truly put your heart into this beautiful piece. I too have received just such a response for staring to long, contemplating how fortunate I am in this life to have one such her. It's a nice feeling to have. Once again, a great work. Thanks for sharing. |

Gorgeous. You are both very lucky to have found one another. Toast to LongJohn and Lorelei ... ------------------ "Nunc lento sonitu dicunt, morierus" (Now as I hear this bell tolling softly for another, it says to me, "Thou must die.") |

This is beautiful, you are both a gift to one another, and sharing your gratitude in a poem is brilliant. Thanks for sharing it with all of us also. |
