"Jonathan" How I loved you, how I could not forget the day you helped me escape death, when thy father wished for my death and forever were you there for me; dear friend, must we part, must our tears fall? We were the envy of the world, yet the two most true friends to each other; how agonizing it is that I must never see you again, as I ran up the mountain into hiding-- as I ran from thy father's soldiers, and my Sovereign Lord had to hide me; then soon you were ordered to war, for nations had fallen into rebellion-- on the battlefield you were slain. My best friend! My best friend! Forever dead yet forever remembered on earth, the blood of the innocent shed, all for the upholding of justice; o' what foolish nations, how could you rob me of my best friend, my best friend that I loved, and knew better than most; o' what woe and anguish befell this day, upon hearing the news of my friend's death; how high men have fallen, how they glorify war for their purposes! You were better than a brother to me! Yet you are now dead. |

lovely...reminiscent of gilgamesh or iliad...well done indeed ------------------ If I had my mouth I would bite. If I had my liberty I would do my liking. In the mean time, let me be that I am, and seek not to alter me. ~~~Shakespeare~~~ |

True thanks to you, WhtDove and elvira... I hope there's a friend like that somewhere on earth. |
