Once upon a lonely night a child's mind began to wander upon some things she knew weren't right. Her eyes closed once, and tears did fall she dreamed of life & joy & smiles but between her & these, there stood a wall. Her eyes closed twice, & her blood ran cold and as she dreamed of laughter, of love bitterness - on her heart - took hold. Her eyes closed thrice, she dreamed of a heart unknown... and of a raging storm that swept her soul because her lover's eyes had turned to stone... Her eyes closed once more - her tears fell again she dreamed of death, that blessed escape - then she bowed her head & said, "Amen..." She closed her eyes one last time, vowing her lids would never part... But one last tear had to swell & stream down the cheek - of a child who then died of a broken heart... ------------------ - poet FemmeFatale "The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone..." Henrik Ibsen (1826-1906) Norwegian dramatist lyric poet |

I really liked the unusual rythym you chose to use with this one....it really helped to make this poem work. Nice Job! |
