Contained herein you will see A living allowance not spent Of tears and love and memories It qualifies as tax exempt. With ev'ry deduction I take I consider the tax effect Charitable gifts I often make And check twice for math defect. With but one child allowance As Head of Household do I claim But I find low tolerance In treating taxes as a game. For taxes paid are taxes earned In living a positive life And this much have I learned It might be easier to be a wife. The form is now complicated With schedules of A and B But yet, good credit am I rated Because I have paid the fee. I remember monthly interest On love's daily savings' plan And with Med bills I try my best To make them understand That my taxes reflect my health In spirit and mortal space And today reflects my wealth With tax exempts on its' face. With receipts and checks in hand I calculate that last line Of a life lived taxingly And at the bottom will I sign. When my filing is said and done And with my last tax form I file The tax man will surely take A few choice words and a smile. |

Cleverly done, Soleil. Not an easy subject to poetize on. I wish you many happy returns! |
