I am burdened by the knowledge Of a release that does not come From knife blade I now acknowledge Though pierced journey has just begun. Now marked in time with all the rest Through forward chain of word to deed, Reined humanity at its' best Agonys' blood I now concede. Crimson river flows quick and fast In veins that constrict and expand With rush of recalled trials past Gushing forth by destiny's hand. The blade is plunged into the soul And then drawn slowly to ensure That pain is held as the final goal It's mortal throb I do endure. Dripping from wounds now slashed open A chalice is held underneath I wince as bled words are spoken: Red wine of truth I now bequeath. Of life's offering do we drink While standing still with high ideal, But hearts are stilled by what we think: The knife's victim is always real. Steeped in life's blood that ebbs and flows I follow the stream wherever it goes. I choose to drink and not partake Of knifing for knifing's own sake. |

I've read this one several times now - and I'm coming back for more - I get more out of it with every reading... |
