She was Springtime and he was Summer
She was a breeze - a breath of fresh air.
He was a shining and brilliant figure,
Springtime and Summer, a wonderful pair.

The she was Summer and he was Fall.
She was the sunshine up over the hill.
He was the falling of leaves from the branches.
He was the coolness of October's chill.

Then she became Autumn, while Winter was he.
She was the fading of yesterday's flowers.
He was the blanket of snow on the rooftops.
He was the counter of Life's final hours.

Now, Winter is she. Hear her icy winds blow
Across empty meadows in mournful, low tone.
When she was still Springtime, why hadn't she known
The chill of December would find her alone?

Reading this gave me chills. How true it is that love changes like the seasons... It was really well thought up. Your poetry is simply grand and I don't eaven feel up to par to comment on it! You are a distinguished poet and you have an admirer in me. (is that how you say that in english?!? in french it is an admirateur) sorry!

Ah Balladeer, you comment on my life fully well, as this is the relationship I have been in for 19 years. Although I will be alone in my winter, I will have my memories of all of the seasons, and no one will be able to take that away from me. I know you didn't write this for me, but, my dear, you captured my heart. Thank you.

The seasons go by so quickly I know
But oh does your poetry magnificently flow!

The End, no matter how it comes, is only the end, by its beginnings
As your words take us back to remember so.

You know I will always admire any work you post here. Those that make me laugh and those that make me cry. As this one did. Yes, keep writing! Not for me. Not for anyone else here. But for you............

I tried to stoke the fires, to stay the hand of fall,
I barred the door on winter--who needs it after all?
I gleaned wild meadow's promise, to stay my path of sun
but moonlight wove my destiny before the day was done.

Beautiful and emotive writing, Balladeer.

I love the subject a change of seasons. I have written many poems on the subject and I love what the creator has done for us here on the third planet from the sun. As a bit of advise mind you, and it's only my view point, the meter was off. In the second stanza the first word should be Then not The and your rhyme scheme was good but you could have had every other line rhyme and it could have tightened the subject where it would be more understanding. Thanks for the read.
