There were droves of them... Two teams set apart by difference of opinion. The smart ones had since given forewarning of obliteration, but the desision was made, and they stood firm with annihilation in their eyes and in their inevitable destiny. Silence rolled through the feilds whispering certain death into the apathetic ears of passionate brawlers. Their minds, arrested in the heat of the moment, Emptied of sane thought. Their hearts, tainted with pride Defiled, corrupted, adulterated... ------------------ Brock J. Glaze |

All I can say is that sometimes, the men on the battle field are just following orders. It has nothing to do with their hearts being corrupted, defiled, or adulterated. Some men fight just to get back to their loved ones. Just to protect their loved ones. Over all war isn't bad. There is a time and place for everything. Just think about that. If you were implying something different then disregard this. JFreak |

Prior military, I can attest to the feeling of my mind being "emptied of sane thoughts." However, it wasn't the feeling of pride within my heart. It was more the yearning for survival, and the questioning of necessity for such conflict. Leading me to stand by JFREAK'S comment, yet straying from his oppinion as well. And believe me, those feelings will never find their way out of my existence. Thanks for the imagery within a well written poem. -Jack |

JavaJack, I am currently enlisted in the Marines. So this somewhat hit home for me. Plus I have had great uncles and grandfathers that fought in WWII and Korea. I just stated what I think from what they went through and also what I know about the military. Jfreak |

thank you Sundance for your complement! and jfreak and javajack, thanx also for your input, this poem is not my idea of what i think REAL war is like, this is my description of a fantasy battle in the future... and i tried to give a feeling of a war more like a war of armageddon where both sides were fighting for what they were programmed to think and believed it with all the faith they could possibly get... just a thought, thanx though for your comments! |
