Elvira, I am sure so many can identify with these feelings. It is wonderfully woven; feelings exquisitly expressed. Thank you for sharing your work. ------------------ ~one voice~ For Myself, I live, Live intensely and am fed by life, and my value, whatever it be, is in my own kind of expression of that. *Henry James |

Poetry can be used to describe so many emotions. You have described one known to many of us. Thank you. |

moving...of all the heartache we can feel none can compare i guess, to the longing of having Dad near...i think most of us have been there... |

Ouch. Brings back many memories that I will not pass on to my children. Sigh... ------------------ lenny |

Elvira, What a wonderful tribute. I hear a quote one time that said something to this effect...the saddest tears are those of regret shed over an open grave. ------------------ "Nobody has measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold" ~Zelda Fitzgerald |

I told you before I'm in the same boat, but guess what I've found...We FLOAT!! (His loss elvira, and our good fortune in the beautiful pieces from the pain caused by someone undeserving of such. Love ya sweetie!) ------------------ For sometimes when the Darkness falls, we must surrender, take what is ours, and give what we can, and always remember love is somewhere waiting... |

If we learn lessons from those who've hurt us, we will indeed pass on a heritage of sensitivity to our children. Today was my best friend's birthday. Four months ago, we were able to find his birth mother. She refused to speak to him at that time as her husband and mother were ill. I held my breath all day today, thinking this year, she would send him a birthday card. None arrived. Your poem is so touching. The Golden Rule should apply to all our actions. Keep sending letters. Make them cheery, full of news, make him wonder if you're half nuts! Don't let his actions become your actions. He turned his back on you, you are a better person than that so you can tell him no matter what he does, you'll never turn your back on him! (note: I love that you go to the end of the forum and pull up favorite poems! Thank you!) |

Since you did not put your e-mail address on your profile, I'll reply to you here. I think some of the poets that don't post anymore felt left out in the cold...someone will come on and post 3 or 4 poems and then not respond to any more. (Nan's posting describes this)....It's disheartening for them..like showing off a new baby and everyone turning away! I don't think there is a solution except to catch new poets on their first poem and welcome them to the group. That's what I try to do. |

elvira... when families hurt, they hurt bigtime... read your poem and I'm sure everyone with a heart will feel sad and reflective... you bring up a subject that touches every human on the planet... so touchingly put -- and you make your feelings (alas, sad ones) so tangible |
