Memories of a simpler time When we had our innocence, and trees were still to climb. The only fear that was portend Labor Day's arrival, which harkened summer's end. O' how I long the summertime Simple treasures that we sought, when Nehi cost a dime. On summer's eve chased fireflies Amidst our joy and laughter, beneath the starlit skies. When first I kissed my Marsha Sue And first I spoke those simple words, fore'er I will love you. As darkness fell and day would end Mother's call to come inside, farewell to cherished friend. I wonder where my childhood went? What became of Marsha Sue, the summers that we spent? Adulthood called to come inside, I fear that in my growing up, my childhood it has died. From our childhoods we do stray But in our hearts they all do stay For if we lost that innocence... Then our lives have lost all sense. |

A child's heart remains within - As cast of fate that boys and girls, become men and women. Regale the day of fireflies - Those carefree days of childhood, cavort in sunny skies. Adulthood shan't keep us inside, Remand all fear of growing up, our wanderlust shall e'er abide. [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 07-09-99).] |

What tears I have shed for the childhood that I gave up so quickly then... and miss so much now! |
