Life With Mother–(a pantoum)©1999 by Genea Parker

We crawl on our knees
Staring at mother’s shoes.
Where do we go from here?
Who will teach us the truths?

Staring at mother’s shoes
We know when we’ve done wrong.
Who will teach us the truths?
Will we ever get a long?

We know when we’ve done wrong.
There’s pain and love in her eyes.
Will we ever get a long?
Before she says goodbye?

There’s pain and love in her eyes.
One more day, Lord, we plead
Before she says goodbye
We crawl on our knees.
