I am counting stars, I am seeing ducks and dragons in the clouds you are warm and understanding, I love that you listen well I do not want change, I do not know what you mean to me I can't tell you where to take this, what to make of me I know I like your hands, your voice, the way I forget what revolves around us when you make me laugh I can pretend that you think I am beautiful that you share half the fantasies hiding in my head I like opening these experiences to you God, to be your first kiss, to be the only one you've ever let inside your arms And I like your secret stories I love the simple concern, your actual struggle for comprehension as though what I say should make perfect sense, as though what I say should be of importance to you. I'll believe anything, anything you say. I dream in and out in and out keep you in my daily conversations I'm glowing like I'm in love I'm treating this with reason oh how perfect we are now, and I'll remember, I'll write it all down -- what you've done to me, the way I'm counting on you. You think, too, that people are cruel you know how it can break a person down & get them angry maybe you'd understand my nightmares my need to complain again and again and again God, do you know what it's like to be listening to this? "I just wanted you to know..." how can I explain rare beautiful kind I want to keep you in my life for years show you my precious possessions Jesus, for someone else to understand the words in this song, the light at this hour the melody when I saw this girl today her face so sad and lovely and I thought again, bruising over all my friends and lovers, their faces now -- while we stumble to our maturity -- how I look at them, god, all the time and think They look so young so young as though I'll never see these visages again no lines, no wear, no innocence in dark retreat I'll take you dancing through the rain, I'll sleep in your car counting hours and halos: our weekend game. Please say this will never end We can base the relationship on anticipation I'll take you out of your world and filter you into mine Let this flicker overtake us teach you how to live with barely any eye on certainty teach you how to give your heart to mine |
