The moon was full and the tide was high I walked the beach, remembering you and I. Beneath my feet, were the sands of time One lonely shell was all I could find. When we were together, life was oh so good. We loved and we laughed, like happy couples should. The world was our oyster, we did all we could To make each other happy, and always thought we would. One day it was over, then the pain began Hurtful words pulled apart a woman and her man. Our hearts each torn out, by cold unfeeling hands. Our souls empty shells, on a lonely stretch of sand. I stared at the empty shell, and then I knew I had to give it up, just like I gave up you. I tossed that shell into the surf and watched it disappear One lonely shell - now gone - no longer here. |
