Have an idea...

What about getting a Passions Instant Message?
For instance, I saw Sharon in Passions, but she didn't have ICQ on. I couldn't get a hold of her. So I chased her around the site and quickly posted in Q&A to get her attention.

So what if we could go into the login section and be able to click on that persons name and send them an instant message, like aol has or something?

Just an idea. Maybe would be good for those who don't have icq also.

If this is work-outable, I would love it. I have AOL instant messenger but don't use it very often (it was getting in the habit of shutting my computer down when I did) and you all have ICQ but little old me hasn't figured out how to download it yet. I think this is a great idea, WhtDove.

Well, there is a program that does that, which was mentioned in a thread way back.  It's called Odigo.  It interfaces well with ICQ, but has the added feature of being able to see other Odigo users on a certain site.  Say that there were 5 people at PiP.  You could chat with them irregardless of which page they were actually on, just as long as they were at newpoets.com.  However, unless they've fixed some features, it would be a good idea not to interface it with ICQ, as url's and the like will not go through, only messages.  Just a thought on the topic.

I still have Odigo!! I like it but there's  no one on that I know....and never anyone on the forum that has it..it's a pretty good message system. I don't have it linked to ICQ though.

I had Odigo, but got rid of it. To be able to speak with someone on it, they have to have it turned on just like ICQ would have to be turned on.  It won't do much good as far as IMessaging someone.  Like in AOL you can see they're online, and message them. Unless of course they have you blocked. You can still message, but that person won't answer

Odigo is pretty cool, as far as being able to see who's on the site with you. But if it's not turned on, wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

What about a co-branded paybar for PIP?

i.e. something like Jotter which has all the facilities such as WHOIS, IM, Calendar, Reminders and would pay PIP from advertising revenue as well...also has integrated email, a bookmark service and other utilities and is stable..

Just a thought..

I think this is a great idea... it would be an easier way to get in touch with the new members and such, should they decide it's worth the d/l.  Furthermore it would reinforce the fact that we are a HUGE group of poets.     I'd love to be able to say "we even have our own IM program!"

That's an awesome idea!  Everyone at Passions uses differen't IM software, whether it be AOL, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, or whatever.. that would be so cool to have PIPIM.
Awesome suggestion.

I think it is a great idea.  I only use MSN now.  I got rid of ICQ months ago, I found it to be to much of a pain and not as easy to use as MSN.  I like things simple.

I have a challenge for all of you who like this idea.

Find some software that we could use....give us url's to sites that offer what we need....

Then we'll see if it's adaptable to our site!

I see no one has found anything for this idea well I have found a site that may offer what you all have so expressed as your desire.  I hesitate to give the url because it may be more work for Ron who has already worked really hard on this site.  But atlas here it is for those of you who can understand all that is involed with the intergration process.  I am tired and probably understood most of it.  It sounds like it may be a good possibility that this may be what you all want.
