I went to check out the link Brad posted for another poetry forum....it has the same basic software and it has a feature in it I like....it shows how many times the poems has been viewed...it gives the poet I think a better indication of their work....to me a lot of reads and no replies means that it is not being understood and I need to look at it again for reassesment any way....its just a suggestion |

Yes, I've seen that feature too. I've spent some time reading there the last few days..I do like that feature. I wonder if you see that your poem has been accessed 25 times without one reply if you would get discouraged?  |

I tried adding a counter during our first major rewrite of the forum software and failed miserably. Oh, it's easy enough to put the counter on a page. It's just not so easy to put it on 30,000 pages without killing our poor, overworked server. I discovered that what's possible on a "normal" website doesn't necessarily scale well to one with our heavier traffic. It is a good idea, and I appreciate the input. Interestingly enough, when I mentioned it in passing (link below), a lot of people didn't seem to care much for the idea. ok good point made, I hadn't thought of that, the size factor, and lol@your miserable failure...that's almost hard to believe...with the success of this place, that you actually failed at something thanks for the response and pvd, yes, it might discourage some, I guess I would take it as time to research the poem, but not all would. I wrote one about hormones the other day, that I think is an ok poem, but didn't expect too many people to understand, only a couple of ladies my same age did, which is about what I thought, so in that case I wouldn't change the poem, but it is nice at least to know it was being read....thanks for your reply |
