I was conspiring..*ahem* I mean confering with another member and we were discussing fiction. I've heard, Sir Ron, that you have a passion towards works of Fiction, prose and short stories, etc. So is there any reason why you don't have a place for fiction on the main page? You've probably seen my love of fiction from my work in Prose and all my annoying questions in VotW discussion forum. So what are the possibilites of submitting prose for the main page and seeing a section developed for it? I love this idea. I've written a few things in the past 6 months and must confess that prose was my first writing choice. I would be willing to help in any way! If the Poetry Forum could become such a hit, why not concentrate on Prose in some small corner of PiP? |

I'm behind you guys on this one! Although I don't write prose as often as poetry, I love it a lot. Sounds like a great idea to me! *Krista Knutson* "Cherish your vision; Cherish your ideals; Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts. If you remain true to them, your world will at last be built." ~James Allen~ "We've made houses for hatred...it's time we made a place where people's souls may be seen and made safe"...~Jewel~ |

That's not a bad idea. Trouble is, no one has ever submitted any fiction and I hate empty sections (have you ever visited the "Special Occasions" category at the main site?) Sigh. Too bad, 'cause it might have really worked... |

How many submissions would it take to make the Prose Section a reality? |

Sharon, that was my light-hearted way of telling everyone to go for it. If everyone that already expressed an interest turned in one good story, that would be more than enough. I might have one or two, myself. One thing, though. Please, please, please take the time to do your own editing (which I know all of those here would). The amount of time it would take to correct a 5,000 word story really scares me. I think most of you already know the best format. Single spaced, flush left, with paragraphs separated by an extra return (like this post). Oh, and remember how your old typing teacher used to tell you to put two spaces between sentences? I know it's a tough habit to break, but try. Even print publishers hate it! |

You know Ron, I'm sure Chris has a drawer full of red pencils he would love to use to edit a story!!! Seriously, we could all pitch in and read someone's story before it's submitted if that would help...or make it a rule that for now, we can submit from the forum after a couple of people have read it for typos! |

Ok..I talked to Ron about this. We can't dictate that someone let's another person edit their work. We can submit our story but if it needs to much editing, it may not be accepted. So maybe if we offer to be available if anyone wants a quick read/edit, that would work. Remember when submitting from the forum, you will have to 'suggest' a new section and name it Prose. |

I submitted a story to the main site today. I reworked it a bit, took out the extra spaces as Ron wanted, and sent it off. Now, it's up to the rest of you!! I will submit another one in about a week, and hope Ron has enough to put on the site when he updates it soon. (is there a limit on how many we should submit?) |

I'd be more than happy to peruse any prose submissions before they go in for submission - but heed my warning - I'll take out my biggest, baddest correction pencils... |
