Taking some time out of your week To write me a poem was just so sweet I know you say you think it is lame But I think it is dear and darling just the same It makes me so happy to finally get your attention on me For I have been trying to earn it everlastingly Even though at times I have taken your words to heart You have to understand why I was so dark I look up to you more than you could know And so what you say can deal a hefty blow I admire you not simply for being a good person free of strife But because it is who you are naturally in life If it came to me as easily as it does to you I would have accomplished so much of what I set out to do Also know that I realize my cynicism has upset you some And that I am trying to ameliorate my idiom So now as I wind this poem to an end Just remember that I am trying to be a friend Love Ben |
