I wish I would have been there
but fear kept me at bay -
My man from out of nowhere
passed through the other day.
He waited there in Memphis
with a rose in hand for me -
As I stood there in the shadows
I became his memory...
The rain fell fast to hide my tears
so no one there would know -
just how much this woman here -
wants to love him so...
They called for all to board,
& I saw him turn to go -
and something deep inside my soul
was screaming out, " Please, No !"
"Don't take him from me please,
let him stay a while longer -
let me hold him, through the night
so my courage will grow stronger..."
My man from out of nowhere
disappeared into the night,
Reality glared back at me -
as the bus drove out of sight.
I stepped out of the shadows
finally everyone could see -
the tears that fell as I reached down,
to take the rose he left for me.........

Femme - this was a wonderful, hopeful, crushing poem that really held me. You are so incredible with your words.

Wow!! Now that is deep!! Very nicely done. Just remember poetry is a window to one's
soul, and the inner most feelings, that is what makes you so good!

Are we gonna have to take up a collection for two more bus tickets so y'all can meet halfway? If you two keep up with these incredibly beautiful poems I'll never stop crying!

My mind has turned to mush trying to follow this. Ok, lemmee get this straight.

Michael went to Memphis.
Poet Femme was there.
Michael got down off the bus,
Looked for her everywhere.

PF was standing out of sight
At the station, too.
And, though it made her want to cry,
She stayed way out of view.

So Michael looked until the end,
Bus doors began to close.
His last act was to leave behind
A beautiful red rose.

When he had gone, PF came out
Picked up the lovely rose
And cried for all that could have been
Though this was what see chose.

So Michael wrote a lovely poem
Describing his despair
At traveling to Tennessee
And finding no one there.

Then PF wrote her own reply
Of how she sat and cried
At how she had not met him
Because she chose to hide.

So Mike feels sorry for Poet Femme
For what she's going through
Though he stood there with rose in hand
While she played peek-a-boo.

Have I got it right so far.........?

Yeah Balladeer, that about covers it - but things got a bit brighter in Texas - check the adult.

After reading this heartfelt work(with perfect meter I might add)-one thing was very apparent---his loss must have been the greater.

I am so lost!! is this what you guys talk about in icq??? I have been trying so hard to get this icq thing but I don't know what i'm doing wrong. I kept reading michaels poems and had no clue what he was talking about. I read PF poems and didn't care what she was talking about because i love her poems anyway. Now i sort of get it HE HE! this is soooo cute. Anyway people...if this is meant to be then it will happen again.

Glad you got home safely, Michael. (Are you home?) Looks like y'all had quite an adventure, eh what? Especially after you left memphis. Great seeing you again, btw! Enjoyed your humor, your company and your friendship.

oh and pff, well written poem ... meter/rhyme/imagery, the works, nice job! Reminds me of something I wrote once upon a time.... i often think back about that man... well, that was a long time ago... funny how you look back and dream about what could have happened "if only"... life's like that. Moments of time that slip away so quickly...

You know, I think Caroline is right, you two go and find each other, say with everything you have what you feel and come back and do a duet about how you made it through the night...and I'll read totally enthralled as I am now...

True love should never be kept apart, it's far too precious a gift..

I wish you both all the love and hugs, patience and endurance and may the world be yours to enjoy...together!

PFF, that was a beautiful poem! It describes so well the feelings inside. That you have for each other of course. Get the bus tickets you too, and Michael bring another rose, and PFF don't hide this time!!!

Scene from the auction of:

'The love of a lifetime'

"Who will start the bidding?"
Yes Michael?...Your love?
any further offers on love
Yes, the lady wearing the rose
You're offering, "sorry Madam?
what was that?, oh, you're
offering to meet him halfway?"
going, going, gone!
(bangs the gavel)

sorry, couldn't resist...

HUGS both

pff, this was beautiful, wistful. breaks my heart to think of the two of you standing there, him waiting for you while your fear holds you back.

Ok I may be new but I am catching on, you have a real live paasions in poetry affair building here between Michael and pFF...wow! fairy tales on the net huh? I love it! And this whole scene reminds me of meeting my dad for the firsttime when I was 17..I was last off the plane cuz I was scared he would be somehow disappointed in me and when I finally got off I couldn't find him right away because he was hiding behind a giant ad sign thinking the same thing..that I would somehow be disappointed in HIM. How wrong we were....and we still had our time together..I hope the two of you find another time real soon to GET TOGETHER!!! Good luck to you both, and if it doesn't work out..look at all the great poems that came out of it! ;-)

Jeez. I almost cried after this. (something I very rarely do) Powerful, powerful, and strong too! You truly have much talent. Let's see if I can find anything else back here in the piles...
