I've read many a poem in my time,
Some speak of youth and happy summer days,
Some talk about the deepest bliss sublime,
And others of a maiden and her gaze.

Yet none describe true glory in my eyes,
Nor the pleasure a life can inspire
That contains a single of your sighs
And its echoes in my heart of fire.

They say, sacrifice for what you treasure.
That love greater than for your-self should be
But I love with purest selfish pleasure;
The only way of giving known to me.

I don't forgo a thing to make you glad
When loving you is all I want to do,
Your happiness to mine can only add.
My way of giving, is my joy in you.
