To The Land Of Make Believe In my night of lonely sleep Their lie’s a waiting ship With tassels torn and sailor forlorn it sails its nightly trip, Post haste I hope On air and grace No hull no figurehead no face, Of floating trees no smell or breeze To the land of make believe. Come with me aboard my ship And join the dreaming few In Ernest I call The crew ‘tis small Awash in this, my dreamy sea, Of mountains high and men that cry for maidens locked in towers Of giant tales and princely fables I make the dreams come true… I land ashore To rapturous applaud To the locals the hero’s returning, I climb a wall so high and tall to rescue blonde fair maiden Then on we ride side by side Your love for me eternal, Through milky streams and sunlight beams To find a cloth of purple. A magic carpet… In tandem we fly it To leap the rivers as puddles Of Oceans deep and castle with keep We cross a thousand lands, And when we're done just flying along we’ll catch a Dragons sneeze And with his breath we hold on tight To sail it’s borrowed breeze. On we fly Where clouds duth lie, and heavens door we ring Higher still our hearts to thrill To meet the man in moon, On cheese and ham and strawberry jam a feast his table platter Then down to earth of sea and surf to raise a mighty tidal, For on its crest we’ll dance our best Two tunes, one Bach, one Handel Then up again to catch a star and paint a bow all yellow, In heavens above Two ships in love We’ll wish again tomorrow. But wait…. Below us, a mighty battle rages The flags all red on green To stop the bad from winning I need to wake the dream… Too many times I’ve sailed this ship Too many nights alone Of restless slumber ‘tis small wonder I dream in flight with you, For in my life and not in dreams I find reality beckons For dragons sleep and maidens weep For the knight has rusting armour. I have neither love nor sorrow Am I a dreaming fool?
