We are so different from what we were
But shadows of ourselves still linger
We have so many things in common still
And things we still remember
The differences are softly subtle
They hang as a gossamer veil
Between yesterday and today
It's there, it's real, it's frail
We want the best of both our worlds
The newness of a love so old
The security of the one we have
The reality is so cold
We walk our walk and talk our talk
Thinking no one is the wiser
But in our hearts we know that
Just below the surface is a geyser
We have to walk softly, gingerly
Thru this emotional maze
It's sometimes hard to concentrate
On the real things of our days
The love we share is real and
Strong as a spider's web
But our lives are different now
Funny how we were led
Thirty years, the tie is there
And will not be cut by time
Maybe thirty more..who knows
I'll be yours and you'll be mine.

Oh...I do love the imagery in those lines. Very nicely written!
