I've never been concerned
Of what people thought of me,
As you have surely learned,
From my "Green Horn" Poetry.

If you could see me as I am,
Not as you think of me,
You would see a man of sadness,
Not the clown you see.

I'm rich with friends that love me,
But the sorrow I have inside,
Is fed by my most horrid past,
That I try so hard to hide.

When people say unkind things,
And then considering the source,
I just put it in perspective,
And now-a-days just ignore.

An insult that comes from ignorance,
Is not all that bad you see,
It's almost like a compliment,
At least it is to me...

Toerag: I saved your poem as a special treat... and it was that. I think I see the man you are, dear one... and if I can alleviate any of that sadness it will be but a small repayment of what I owe you for the joy you've brought to my life.

But even after reading it, I waited to respond until I found Lucie's poem... and liked yours even more for the excellent perspective you offer. The last verse packs so much wisdom... Before letting someone's words hurt us too deeply, we need to decide whether we value that person's opinion. Well done!!!

Toerag, big fat kisses for you!!! MMMMMM *MUAH, you are so right my friend. There are parts of my life that are lived on the edge of social propriety, I am always one to take the less beaten path. Most of this has been a base for the heartfelt emotion that comes through in my poetry. I think its a fair trade!
To me my poetry is a piece of me.. as I have said many times..Poetic therapy, its cheaper then a shrink and I don't have to schedule my one hour emotional breakdowns. Thanks again.

Oh, geesh... he's after your legs and you're happy to be under him... I am going to have to watch you two constantly!!! (Not that watching Toe is any hardship! LOL)

And Toe, my friend... you're quite proficient at many things... People may expect smiles when they see your poems... but encouragement, support, and wisdom are every bit as needed... this poem has them all!

I can relate to your poem maybe even better than you know. I was over there, too. Sorta puts little things in perspective, doesn't it? I didn't see Lucie's entry but I'm sure as hell glad you're here and anyone who comes down on you is a jerk...including me.

This message - and your love life - will destruct in 5 seconds.

AHA! It worked!! (At least, half of it.)

I'm not sure which I value more, your poem or Suthern's evaluation of you....both a tribute to clearsightedness...wow!...I have to read you words again...

HUSG both

Lucie: Mark this man's words, for I have never, not once, known him to lie about something and he will give his love, warmly but with kindness with every single serious word he utters and when he's talking dirty, well now, lets just say, he uses a different part of his anatomy until he gets rebuked of course...*g*...

To smile through tears is a fight worth winning...Love your style!
