In bed as I lie awake I see yesterday As I look up at the night's Cold scarred face I stare at her face And ask her to take away The fold above my eyes So I may see tomorrow Her cruel manner denies me Allows for me to only wonder To see only what I have done And what I wanted to do She lets me only see my blunders My falls and my sorrows Casting them unto my, now, pale face For me to see, with an unceasing force But in the night, I find a light A small light I believe is a star She tries to stop me But has no power to deny me this star I strain my eyes to see better To know how this star looks I force my legs to move To get closer to the light With all her might The night grasps on to me Trying to hold me Not wanting me to touch the light I move forward and am in reach To feel the star The only light in this Otherwise empty, black night As I grasp the star The night is flung away And the star takes her place And paints blue what was once black Now I stay with this star And I see today I see tomorrow And I see you |
