You held up a mirror
And showed me a whore.
Then you stood silent
No need to say more.
My every dream
Was based upon lies
I told myself.
Now my anguished cries
Fill the night, tear my throat
I’m drowned in my shame.
Guilty of unwise love…
I take full blame.

This is wonderfully written, Suthern....guilty of unwise love. Thank God you have finally seen the light! Bye, bye, Toe.

'Deer - rofl@bye bye -

As for YOU, Belle - there is no way in the world you will ever fit into the category of whore. You are too fine a lady to even come close to that. I was shocked when I read those words. They were indeed like a slap in the face, as if I had been insulted, even. I'll try to keep in mind that this poem was NOT about you.

Suthern...this is an extreamly powerful piece, very well written. Amazing what the preceptions others have of us can do to our self esteem isn't it?

I hate to ditto LJA with anything... but ROFL @ Bye, bye, Toe! LOL. Sorry to disappoint you, 'Deer one... but he IS my light! *G*

LJA: Thanks, dear friend. Geesh, I'm being violent today without even trying... hitting Lovey, slapping you in the face... *G*

Hoot: Thank you very much for those kind words... and yup... by definition, self esteem should come from within. But others can sure influence it... to build up or destroy. *S*

Even before I read the comments of others I thought "Damn! That was a pretty vicious slap in the face." Given everyone elses response, I'd say that was a very powerful piece and very well written. Be kind to yourself!

RG: Dear friend, your brain must be addled. LOL.

WhtDove, dsnyder, and Andrew... thank you very much!

Caroline: Is there any other way? *G* I'm really quite a pacifist! LOL

Christopher: Tsk, tsk... *G* There are plenty of mangy scalawags about that are willing to malign that sweet Toerag... but I am certainly not one of them! LOL. Don't look for any disparaging remarks from me about that finest of men!

And to all of those who are concerned about my state of mind ('cept for Balladeer who's given up on me HAVING a mind *G*)... if this read as though it came from my gut, I'm pleased with the poem... but my powers of observation and even imagination are working just fine! *G* As a whore, I'd have starved to death long ago! LOL. But I do thank you for caring.

Toerag: Ahem.... I think you just told 'em, sweets!!! (But then my cries would have been ecstatic instead of anguished! LOL) Thanks, dear one... I appreciate your kudos very much!

RG: LOL... I could certainly sell my cooking faster than I could this carcass! *G*
