Listening to every heart

My book is back, and here is a sampling from much younger, more innocent times...and remember, the key word is "younger"

Flickers of Fire

The warm memories of loving you
fade like a flicker of fire.

Once again I hide them away,
they have stayed too long and I tire.

Where there once was softness,
now screams out in pain,
in a field of yellow and green,
love lives alone, dies in vain.

Where there once were treasures
to fondle and care for,
now are gone those elusive pleasures,
no, I’ll have them nevermore.

A figure to fit a swishing dream
of a golden and silver weave;
now you are bold
lose my hold … and leave.

My heart is cradled
in the memories of your arms,
once again I envelop myself
in the mystery of your memory’s charms

A flicker of fire grows,
glimmers,
cries,
dies.

wow, (dittoing RG on that one lol) this is beautiful, haven't we all done this, taken out a memory, cried and sighed, and then put it safely away, where it won't hurt us anymore.....very nice!

Thank you RG -
the "book" is what I've done a poem on about it's heartfelt loss -
and now it's been returned,
dating back to '68,
showing everything I've learned...

the "book" was my private archives
of all my loves and trials gone by...
and now that I've got PiP
and now that I'm not shy...

the "book" will become one of the family
it's words will ring forth true
and thank you so for commenting
for the words were written for you!

Thanks ILI, you snuck in your response before I was done with mine, so I hope you check back and see this. Sunshine
