Someone in Chicago
founded a newspaper
called Streetwise.

The idea was to send
homeless people out
as vendors

thus making them
entrepeneurs instead
of homeless people.

So now they're
everywhere selling
Streetwise for a dollar

which hardly anyone
reads. Some buyers
know it's panhandling

yet buy lots of papers
to help as many
entrepeneurs as they can.

Some religiously buy
each issue
to keep abreast of Duty.

Most people walk around
the vendors
pretending not to see them.

I saw one young man
turn to a vendor
and explain to her

like Darrow before a jury
why he wasn't buying.
That took the cake.
