![]() In dark, Cimmerian forest stands a maiden chaste and fair through the morning’s hazy mist a mighty wolf leaves his lair the maiden, frozen fearfully feels the tread of the forest beast she listens carefully to the west and carefully to the east fear flows through her veins as she stands in full alert he creeps nearer to her, his paws barely touch the dirt suddenly, she feels his breath upon her silken throat frightened now, she reaches out and finds his bushy coat afraid to run afraid to stay she holds her breath in fear the wolf sniffing her womanly scent draws nearer, ever near the maiden feels the wolf’s wet nose along her silky thigh the wolf, tasting her trepidation releases a mournful sigh quivering with an unknown dread the maiden becomes alarmed the wolf sensing her fearfulness is suddenly quite charmed he tastes her as she turns to run, willing her feet to go he steps in front of her path as if, he wouldn’t have it so trembling, the maiden lifts her chin daring his ascent the wolf stands back smiling at this development the maiden takes one step back, prepared to run away the wolf lowers his mighty head, as though prepared to pray before she leaves, the wolf looks up, their eyes meet in a glance the maiden and the wolf now know, they’ve escaped a forbidden romance. I remember this from Open One and should tell you how much I like it - if I didn't before. Your imagination and gift for storytelling is wonderful, Poet deVine. |
