The rats scurry for cover Making home where those have none. The mud puddles around Blankets in the grass. Their owners, stoned to the max Are in their own rainbow. Those on patrol for vacant garages Return for oatmeal and coffee. SSI checks mean sandwiches But that is three days off. There is a violent tribal order And those in charge Huddle under picnic tables Planning their next strategy. When it rains There is no place to go. For them, it does not stop raining. So? Lithium and prozac are not The drugs of choice. And John David died of an overdose Preferring death’s release to the rain. |

You have painted a picture that I am afraid is all too real for too many people. Very well done. ------------------ Denise |

This work may not be so sunshiny, but it certainly is enlightening... |

Thanks for this piece. Very unsettling but well written. Tyson |
