Daddy's Girl

A grown up man and a little girl
Make such a shameful pair.
He repeatedly abuses her,
She doesn’t seem to care.

This is the life she’s forced to live,
She knows she has no choice.
His big hands no longer needed
To muffle her screaming voice.

It wasn’t all that long ago
When the light in her eyes died.
The day Daddy climbed in her bed
And forced himself inside.

His eyes were lit by the fire
That fueled his burning need.
She tightly clenched her eyes shut
As he showered her with seed.

He reached the peaks of ecstasy
Surrounded by a world of sin.
Silent tears flowed abundantly
As her essence died within.

To be abused by the man she loves
Such a cruel twist of fate
Hardly a lesson to be learned
At the tender age of eight.

Gosh Tara.....I am setting here crying. No one has a right to do this to anyone, especially not a child. Your words are so vivd, you make this come alive and grab the reader by the heart in the grasp of this very dramatic poem. The subject matter horrid, but you have done an excellent job of portraying the effects of sexual abuse through your words. The abuser has taken much more than the childs body, he's taken her dignity, her childhood and her life....I can think of things I'd like to do to people like this!!!

Thank you all for leaving footprints!!

Thank you pepper, graham, moonmoon, startin_fresh: Your comments mean a lot to me. It breaks my heart to think that there are children living this life every day. If only we could stop it.

For all it's worth as a father of two young beautiful girls, I hate this poem! It is well written... it could not be done better... thus the emotion you've created. It is a testiment to your talent and I commend you for your efforts. I pray never to have the means to write such things. I hate this poem and applaud you for it.

Tara, I can only ditto the above on this! This is a terrible thing to happen, and so many emotions. You have done an excellent job of bringing that devastation out!

Tara,
Something similiar happened to someone very close to me. This was an is appalling act. I commend you on your courage not only in writing this piece but sharing it here with us. Dare I say "great poem".

Somehow I knew the moment I saw the title and had to wait a bit before replying. This "act" is repulsive and vile. Far too many of my friends or their children have endured similar cruelties. Raising awareness of this and issues like it is the main reason I write my verse.

Well crafted piece.

Michael, no courage needed on my part, this is not about me. I'm thankful to say this is not about anyone I know personally.

Dream, I'm so sorry that you know many people who've lived through this. Even one would be too many.
