The day over here soon will draw to a close,
The sun will set in the sky,
With shreds of colour red, orange and yellow,
Another day will drift by.

Tonight I will slumber,
What will I dream I wonder?
I'll dream of castles and knights of yesteryear,
A place where love was torn asunder.

I might dream of Unicorns,
Flying across the star studded sky,
A dream of children everywhere,
Laughter making their day go by.

I'll perhaps dream of the tropical beach,
That I love so much,
Lying on the sand with the sun warming me,
My body warm to it's touch.

I could dream of a journey across the sea,
Travelling to places I've only read about,
Walking to new destinations,
Knowing new horizons inside and out.

Or perhaps I'll dream of Australia's Byron Bay,
Australia's most easterly point of land,
The first place the light touches in this country,
As the light slowly drifts across it's sand.

In my dreams it's a magical place,
I can be anyone, do anything I please,
I can make the happy endings,
The pain and the heartache of life cease.

Yes, in dreams we can be anywhere, anything and always happy if we choose...light and colorful, inspiring. :-)

LOL, j/k I think this is beautiful, only in our dreams, can we escape the harsh realities of an unkind world...and in poems as well...thank you for the retreat!
