My heart hangs heavy with a sorrow That will not fade even with a million tomorrows. I talk to you and know you hear Even though you're no longer here. We had a bond - you and I. Now with love I look up at the sky. I know some how, way up there You smile down as you watch me stare. I wonder why you're no longer near, I have not the words of wisdom I wish to hear. Too soon it seems you were taken away. I know your life you lived to the fullest each day. I know you loved me, it was in your touch. I don't remember if I told you, but I love you this much. I was so young when God called you home. I can remember the dream where you told me to roam. Twas that night I said good bye The night six years after you'd died, it was the last time I let myself cry. I love you and miss you so, This I just wanted you to know. I wrote this for my grandfather...he died many years ago...but this is the first time I've been able to put my sorrow down in black and white. It took me a long time to say good bye...for a long time I could not think of him without crying...I thank him for helping me to finally say good bye one night in a strange yet calming dream. ------------------ We are only truly apperciated after we are no more! |

Wow! it is great you got a chance to be so close to your grandfather! This is a great poem, and less than an hour after mine! Very touching ... both he and you are blessed by the bond you shared ... Nocht ------------------ "Nunc lento sonitu dicunt, morierus" (Now as I hear this bell tolling softly for another, it says to me, "Thou must die.") |

Starith, glad to see ya back. This was a beautiful piece. My father passed away two years ago and it took me a long time too. But since I have written two poems about him and have often times get a sense of his spirit with me which is very comforting to me...so you never really lose them. ------------------ Julie ------------------------- ..."to thine own self be true." >William Shakespeare |

Julie: Thank you for the welcome back...I'm glad to be back. It is hard sometimes to let go of the ones we love so much and are so close to...but you eventually learn that they are still there with you, just not so in a physical sense. I'm sorry to hear about your father, I wish I could tell you that the pain you fell will go away...but it won't. I still hurt over the loss of my grandfather, but I have learned how to live with the hurt. Writing poetry is some kind of a release for the pain though...I have found that it helps me to write down how I feel on paper so that everyone might see it...it seems to lessen th burden that you bear when you share it with another. Once again thank you. thank all of you who have ever read my poetry and posted a reply...it means so much to me to know that you like what I write. I feel like you are all my friends now, like I could post anything here and you could understand the feelings behind it. Thank you for making me feel welcome and peace, where once there was fear of rejection. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Star ------------------ We are only truly apperciated after we are no more! |
