A Poet Speaks

Into the wee hours of the morn
Poets lurk, write and speak
Of days that'd long since gone
And things others dare not speak

Poets write of broken hearts
Of lost loves and such
And of whimsical life parts
That makes us laugh so much.

Quiet is the outward view
Of most of those who'd think
Those poets can't be wild on cue
And raise one hell of a stink.

A special person and soul
Is the poet as he writes
His tales of days of old
And love that'd burned bright.

For centuries poets were
The scribes of history's lore
Of Gallantry through the years
And people thirst for more

Now enter and visit the realm
Of poetic verse and rhymes
Spinning the stories to tell
Of people throughout time

It may be of a child in pain
It may be of love endured
But it's always from a poet's pen
Of that you can be sure.

It's about time you penned another one! "A special person and soul is the poet as he writes"--so true! I like this one.

Thanks Tara. As you know i hit a creative block. I need to ask the others in the forum to please make suggestions and comments when my work is posted. I am wanting to "grow" as a poet. Thanks

Thank you Michael

It means a lot when accomplished poets such as yourself and Tara read and critique my works.
