Currents and Tides

There are currents and there are tides.
Tides are reversible
But currents, you think would abide.

Women show both currents and tides
There indispensable
But both of them, mens minds collide.

Marriage it seems is like the tide
Mergers reversible.
But currents they must coincide.

And it best both currents and tides
That each one does abide.
And that neither of them collide

Neither one should pay a toll
For sainthood is not the goal.

You're right, Sy - Neither one should have to pay the toll - It's much too great a cost...
