Crystal Dreams As I cast a red-eyed gaze, -about this barren home: A single tear falls from my face, -to know I'm now alone. Dim memories, are all I've left; -to remind my heart of you. Of love and laughter, joy and song, -a perfect promise to be true. Then I think back of days gone by, -on my face a wistful smile. Though rough sometimes, I must admit, -we weathered every trial. For years and more, we built a love. -Our life such peaceful bliss. True love would last forever, -is what we'd say with each sweet kiss. But our eternity was never real, -that fickle fate is so unjust. So I watched as your life ended, -and crystal dreams were turned to dust. So ask me now what truly is, -ask of things I have to say. I'll tell you honest from my heart, -of the lie I live each day. But please don't ask me how I am, -because I'll tell you all is well. When the truth is... I'm uncertain, -for without you life is hell. If you wonder why I go on still, -if you ask me why I try; I really have no answer love, -it might be easier just to die. But an answer swells from in my soul, -echoes from my beating heart. If I die now, by my own hand, -we'll always be apart. And though you are no longer here, -on this plane that we call life: Your spirit's someplace better, -way above where there's no strife. It is there I wish to join you, -that wondrous place where there's no pain. Then with joy we'll dance forever, -and will rekindle love's lost flame. ------------------ A philosopher is a dead poet and a dying theologian. -Roger Zelazny- |

Christopher...I'll boost you back up there too as this is well worth the read. What an excellent job you did on this piece of poetry. ------------------ Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our heart and we are never ever the same. Thank you all for leaving footprints!! |

Chris, this is fantastic! Love that last line, and fate is so fickle isn't it? I think you captured the emotion so well. Thanks for the repost, it was well worth it! (Going to print it...) K [This message has been edited by Severn (edited 09-25-1999).] |
