Hey - this has really bugged me for some time - only, LOL - I've ben too lazy and/or forgetful to write it up! When I enter the forums my cookies are read and all new topics are red - the forums containing changes since my last visit have a star next to them, etc... That part works fine... but if I click on a link somewhere (ie the one which led me here, clicking on Denise's home page link in Announcements) then my cookies often get reset. Most of the time I just work around it and try to remember the forums where there were links I wanted to follow until I'm finished going through the updated forums - but when I forget, like today, and follow a lonk... I lost all my stars and red folders!  Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope! C  |

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying you leave the forums entirely and then return, or are you opening another site (Denise's) in a new window? The former would, indeed, reset your cookies. But I don't see how the latter could have any possible impact on them? I just went to CH and came back; no problem with cookies. More confusion. Can you describe, step by step, what you're doing that destroys the cookies? |

Certainly can! ...uhhh... because I just did it again! Browsing through the forums, everything's cool... go to the mod's forum and open a link inside one of the threads. It pops up a new window. I flip back to the original window after reading the pop up one and then hit my back button. Hit it again to get to the main screen and... darn, cookies got munched again. It seems that they're resetting themselves whenever I click on a window that opens outside of the original. If, for example I click on Abe's link to his pictures in the Alley - no problem. I can then use my back button and all is well in Graceland. It seems to only happen when it pops up a new window. I agree with Pete that's it's not critical. I just wanted to make sure you didn't end up with nothing to do. LOL  C |

I note that it's because you follow "lonks".... that would be enough to munch your cookies.... {~,^} |
