Ron - I was just wondering why my Icon, which is #64, keeps changing itself back to a default one? Also, I can be in reading and commenting in a Forum say, oh, in the morning, come back in the afternoon, and it asks me for my Username. I have changed Icons before thinking it was just a fluke, but nope, it still happens nearly everyday or so. Is it because I don't always LOG IN ? I just sometimes go directly to a Forum. Are you supposed to always LOG IN? Oh, dear, I feel like I am rambling. Hope you can answer this question. I love this site - thanks for making it! Chris (Nightshade) |

Your Username and icon are both stored in cookies, Chris, on your own computer. Logging in each time would restore your username, because it resets your cookies for that, but it wouldn't restore your default icon or several other Profile settings. There's a short article in the Member's Area, under Troubleshooting Guide, that might help you better understand how it all works. Look for the one called "I think my cookies have crumbled." Essentially, if you change computers or clear your Internet files between forum sessions, our software won't be able to find the cookies on your computer. If this happens, going back into your Profile and submitting it (you don't have to change anything) will restore ALL of your cookies immediately. |

Ron - okay, thanks I will check that out. I have had my "cookies crumble" plenty of times, but never on the computer...lol. I know..dumb joke.  |

No, Chris, not a "dumb joke" at all. Until Ron pointed out how to keep cookies from crumbling, mine use to do it all the time. I didn't know I had the heat set so high! LOL... But once you get it all figured out, it's a gingersnap! |
