(If this creates interest - I could carry it to other sessions) (From the Past- Slightly fictionalized) My meetings - with peers - dealing with the effects of divorce, separation, loss of spouse These were made available for a nominal fee through Parents Without Partners (Names used are not real) First Meeting - an introduction There are six of us and a leader. Two men, four women Our leader is a lady named Ms. Love I considered the irony Mary introduces herself She is 46, somewhat overweight They had two children, now grown He left her for another woman Twenty years younger She was totally surprised She sued for divorce Got the house But is angry, alone, devastated. Joan is 23, attractive Her husband drank, beat her- She found the strength to leave him Is living in a shelter With their two children 3 & 5 She can't understand why she still loves him She is afraid She is lost John is 29, he is not unattractive But is obviously insecure (Has he always been or is this the result of His breakup?) His wife walked out - Called the next day Said she didn't want to be married. He seems more than devastated - Totally confused "Women don't do this!"? Sue is 57, her husband was a doctor He dropped dead. She thought she was well off But the assets don't seem to be there The kids AND she are totally confused Pat is 25, She was married, divorced Has been living with a man He has been beating her, and raping her She fears for her three children Feels she's stepped From the frying pan to the fire Me I'm a 46 year old male I did the leaving - the divorcing I felt I had to leave the Teen-agers With their mother A good mother - but I missed them And didn't want them to blame themselves Just understand I felt like the best adjusted in the bunch. |

"Everyone's circumstances are only great to them, as we will always be the most sane of all..." yes, I've heard that somewhere... I like this, and would be introduced to more sessions. |

Interesting read, Bill...would be great if you could write a story for each, delving into their lives in more detail...just a thought. |

Disturbing that over 50% of marriages end in spliting up...Maybe, but not surprising...in light of society's current downward spiral...Ah, deep thoughts! OUCH MY HEAD! Yes, there is splendy irony in the name Ms. Love...more than meets the eye, for the title "Ms" denotes unmarried status...well... My parents devoirced...the best thing that could have happened really for me...well, i'm still alive...*Busts out singing the Pearl Jam song "Alive"* Anyway, nice wording, nicely skated the lines between poetry and prosse... Spreading insanity, one post at a time "Way back in eighty-seven, where we bust rockstands till we get to heaven" |

Interesting - I was feeling the impression of a High School reunion in a way... kind of like how you find out what so-and-so is doing now, etc. Interesting - reads like a cast of players. Chris |
