Living on John Street When I was a young one I was in need of a place to stay and the opportunity came to me 3 times to live on John Street; there is a place I remember with fond feelings, not only for the house but those I lived with, I had been desperately looking for a place to stay and boy did I find one on John Street; Marge and her son Al were living in a large two story house on John Street and when they heard word going around that I was looking for a place to stay they offered me a room and the run of the house, it was one of those older two story homes perhaps from the 30's and it looked sorta like an old red barn on the outside but it was neat on the inside, the kitchen and a walk in pantry were huge, the downstairs bathroom was huge also and had a shower that was completely tiled top, bottom and sides. My bedroom was downstairs behind the living room, not so large but comfortable and private. There was also a black, curly 50 pd. cockerpoo that was quite frisky and I played with often as he seemed to gladly welcome a new person. There was a large avocado tree in the back yard which we all enjoy frequently, and as I soon learned avocado's could be reached from a small roof when you went out a second story window. The dog, Max, sometimes would wander into my downstairs bedroom at night and spend time there the dog was pretty good size, I can remember an incident that happened in the middle of one night; I was having a dream and in this dream some sort of monster had jumped on top of me and was smothering me and I couldn't move and I couldn't get up from that position, it felt like there was something heavy on my chest, while I seemed like I was really struggling to move in my dream I awoke and I immediately screamed for Max was on my chest starring me right in the face, as I yelled, he yelped, and jumped off my chest, leaving me relieved that it was only him on my chest that had made me feel like something heavy on my chest was smothering me. Enjoyed the part where you woke up finding a dog on your chest! I can well imagine! Keep writing and bringing up the memories. ~miscellanea |
