an old tired ship in the sea of words harbor molders in the steel jaws of its blue winter liar. how close the horizon, how fearful the night winds when there’s no where to sail but into the last anchorage. once there were lemon groves, the fragrance of citrus blossom, blood oranges and sugar cane sweet as love songs and teary-eyed ballads. with dreams now in amber, its cargo is stone fruit and palm fronds that wither in tropical breezes.
