They take to air as dawn’s slow hand chisels away at the onyx band, the border between night and the dreaming sea. They soar across a waterless tide of rose tangerine, seeking thermals of heaven’s breath to bear them upward beyond the seam of gravity and earth’s demand for clay and ash in all living things. They sing with open throated joy never found in lark’s timid breast, on sparrow’s raw tongue of needy hunger. Whitewashed by clouds and morning moon, in sigh of wind they come for me, a shadow on snow in early spring, and lift me up before the last note of night’s dark lullaby claims my breath.

Now you know what you created what was actually a beautiful scene.  However, here those suckers are back and waking me every single morning, and there is nothing beautiful about it, trust me.

We have them here all year round, a bit noisy, yes, but what a joy to watch them dance on the colors of dawn.
Thanks so much for reading and your kind comments.

Jennifer,

Now that I live in the interior, I miss the seabirds.  The Raven, Magpie, Camprobbers and chickadee delight me - but I do miss the water and the birds that live on it and in the marshes near it.
