It was true boxing, (not that with gloves), punches in teeth, Jersey that we fire, a stunning general scuffle, one moment of privileged entertainment, the spectators laughing and fustigating islanders and sabres ....The battle leaving on the ice only some drops of blood, red as the passion of every man deprived to be able to take on his opponent.... What learn us they? That we are imperfect and limited. |

Fine writing...reminded me of a boxing match I watched in Germany in the Army...the new guy inquired "Who's the meanest guy around? I'm calling him out for a boxing match...later that night they faced off on a mat in the gym with no gloves on and proceeded to pound the heck out of each other...it was finally called as a draw and they became good friends...the new guy won the respect he was looking for...James |

This is an interesting experiment in prose writing. It's almost like a prose-based haiku. Good job. |
