Keyhole Thinking By Larry Chadwick I looked out a keyhole onto the world and I saw somebody ride by on a bicycle. Except they were going so fast I could not make out whether I even knew them. Then a couple strode by, I think, hand-in-hand. A small child dashed past the other way. And again so quickly I was not sure if it was a boy or a girl. Once a person paused in front of my keyhole. But I found it impossible to carry on a conversation. They did not even recognize I was present. Stooping behind a keyhole is certainly not an effective way to meet or communicate with others. And it is an especially inadequate way to view the world. Frustration is a lot like trying to see the world through a keyhole. It covers over much of what I need to see. In fact frustration is so narrowly focused I seem to only have room for my own needs, thoughts and opinions. Someone once indicated that they knew a person so narrow minded that they were certain that person could see through a keyhole with both eyes at the same time. I believe frustration is a lot like that. The facts I consider when I am frustrated are so few that it is only a partial picture. People rarely recognize me for who I usually am when I react in frustration. It certainly makes no allowance for others as they do not even fit into that small keyhole picture. Like viewing the world through a keyhole, frustration is a sure way to make decisions on inadequate information. Why should I settle for a partial perspective when I could simply straighten my stooped knees and view the world through the window in the door. The world never has revolved around me and it never will. April 3, 2004 If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

So, you've been in my livingroom lately? LOL. Yesterday was a major keyhole day for me. I was so happy you visited with me in that 'tear' write, you helped set me right back on track. Hugs to you, always. Now step away from that keyhole! ![]() |

Lauren, Thanks. A quick funny story. I heard the "looking through a keyhole with both eyes at once" line in a sermon. And an old couple took exception and stomped out of church from the front row. I guess if the shoe fits... ![]() Kacy, LOL And I tried to find that thread and I believe it has evaporated! How did you do that? Anyway, I'm not without practice at keyhole thinking as you already know. Thanks for putting up with me. ![]() If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Larry, I love your thinking! I can't say enough about the right kind of encouragement it gives, so I won't even try. Just keep writing! You have in your heart wonderful messages for others to decipher. I'm very appreciative. misc'a |
