MIND YOUR LANGUAGE

Why did we borrow words and change the meaning or change the way they sound,

Did we run out of words to say or do we like hurdles and place in front of us a mound.

BOW on a ship can be in a girls hair as BOW,

ROW is to fight and in line is a ROW.

PRESENT to introduce and PRESENT as a gift,

WIND for turn and WIND to help a kite lift.

WOUND is a sore that the bandage can be WOUND around,

MINUTE hand on a watch can be quite MINUTE I have found.

A DEAL is to agree and to share out is to DEAL,

SEAL is a stamp and to stick is to SEAL.

SOW is a pig and SOW is to reap,

DOES is present of do and DOES are female deer that leap.

TEAR is a rip and TEAR is to cry,

POLISH furniture has to have POLISH or it will dry.

SEWER is a drain and a SEWER has needle and thread,

DESERT is to leave and a DESERT is a wasteland we all dread.

DOVE is a bird and DOVE is to dive,

LIVE is to exist and in person, LIVE.

PRODUCE on a farm will always PRODUCE,

USE these words with care or they are of no USE.

CLOSE is near, so as you pass the door, please CLOSE,

BASS drum is to beat and BASS is a fish I suppose.

REFUSE is rubbish that a dump will REFUSE when full,

LEAD is a heavy metal while the dog has a LEAD to pull.

So mind your language, for sometimes it is hard for you to understand and get,

And give thought to those who find English not easy to interpret.

Dear Isobel: I'm so happy to see you posting here and this is a cleverly thought out piece!  What you say is so true. It's a wonder people from others countries ever learn the English language!

Dear Betty Lou, Marge and Kaoru

English is the only language that I know and I even find it hard to comprehend myself.

Thank you all for replying.

I very much dig where this is coming from, I have also noticed, that,
MINE is to own it, or gold comes from a MINE,

I don't MIND  the noise, but it could make me lose my MIND,

To keep it safe put it in a CASE, just in CASE,
and

trying to increase my BUST, has always been a BUST.....
Hope you don't mind my tossing a few in,,,,,take care
Michelle

I wish all could find the true happiness I have found,,in the eyes of Mike
