I write.. Cause that's what I do. I'm a writer or if you need to categorize me--I'm a poet. That means that the things that flow from my brain to my pen are suppose to be poetic. Yet, it seems at times that there is nothing that I can write that will move a dog much less a person. I lay pen to paper and then follow it by laying pen to floor like if the carpet could write the piece out that is running through my head. Then there are other days where everything is something for someone. Writing and art like music and dance go hand in hand. You can have one without the other, but why would you want that? I have a gift. I'm blessed by the ones higher than me to help and heal others by using the words that I have. I guess that somewhere that makes me special, but most of the time I'm not really sure. Somedays, I feel 5 not 25. I read the other poetry out there and I wonder to myself if I could ever match up to anything like that. I wonder if I was ever meant to write anything or is it all in my head? I know that I have to shrug if off and continue so I find over ways to improve the words. If nothing else I will make someone laugh with the silliness. Here I am one more time. I lay pen to paper. I lay pen and paper on the floor and I look down at them hoping that the miracle of thought writing will come true. Nothing happens. I pick it. I sigh. I lay pen to paper. Just hoping that one day people will read and be moved to show others. I will keep writing and hopefully they will keep reading. No matter how terrible I am. Love, Ladycat Dancing is the loftiest, the most moving, the most |

Know how that feels. Thanks for sharing; wonder how many others of us on here feel that as well. But at least a dog doesn't require so many words to make him move. lol |

Sometimes, I just to doodle on my paper hoping that a doodle will turn into a thought! Other times, I sleep with a spiral notepad and pen and write in the dark when a thought flies by... "Now the beauty of this strategy is" when ya read it in the morning there are hundreds of interpretations because "ya can't clearly read the writing," leaving alot open for guess and imagination! Enjoyed your write! ~Sadelite~ I liked your pen on the floor solution a little better i think... Cute...) |

Thirty years ago I burned all my work, after someone wanted to publish it. I have rewrote much of what was lost from memory into short stories which were once poetry. The freshness of what was created seems always better off the way it was first done. I am now getting closer to being an old writer and my concerns are leading me toward being a novelist. Many years ago I felt a greatness of being a great writer. Now I realize the work that goes into being one. I hope you come to realize that talent is only a spark that needs to be natured toward a fire that will last though the night. |
